Seasonal Home Needs Soapstone Cookwares

Connecting Our Community Through Sustainability

A deep love for diverse cultures, time-honored traditions, and endangered craft skills—and a desire to keep them alive—has always guided our journey.

Our Story

Creating a Community Rooted in Craft

Soapstone Cookwares is a female-owned and operated online store based in Arlington, Texas. Our philosophy is simple: to bring traditional practices back into modern homes while ensuring that artisan skills not only survive, but flourish.

We proudly partner with over 30 artisans, cooperatives, and single-origin makers across Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, South America, and South Africa. Each product is handcrafted in small batches, using age-old techniques passed down through generations. No two pieces are ever exactly alike—each carries the unmistakable mark of the hands that shaped it.

Every vessel is a work of art. The time, care, and dedication invested in each piece are visible in its form, finish, and function—standing as a true testament to the artisan’s craftsmanship.

We share these stories—how our products are made and how they are used in real homes—through our Instagram community (@soapstonecookwares) and through videos on our website. Our cookware is designed to remain true to its ancient origins, preserving authenticity while serving modern kitchens.

Because many of our products are entirely handcrafted using traditional methods, availability is naturally limited, and pieces often sell out quickly. Guided by customer feedback, we continuously review quality, refine processes, and remain committed to using recyclable, eco-conscious packaging for all shipments.

Our relationships—with artisans, customers, and the products themselves—are intimate and deeply valued.

Why We Do What We Do

We believe certain traditional practices—such as cooking with soapstone—can meaningfully transform everyday life. Soapstone cookware offers a chemical-free cooking surface, gentle heat retention, and the ability to preserve nutrients and flavors naturally.

Choosing how we cook is choosing how we live.

By reviving these traditions, we invite you to take a step toward healthier, more mindful living—one slow-cooked meal at a time.

Your kitchen deserves the touch of handcrafted excellence.

The Heart of Our Co-Op

To truly understand the craft, we traveled to local artisan cooperatives and worked alongside makers, taking part in the hand-making process firsthand. These experiences deepened our respect for the skill, patience, and heritage embedded in every piece—and strengthened our commitment to ethical collaboration.

Our Beginnings

The idea for Soapstone Cookwares first took shape in the spring of 2015—a season of new beginnings. What began as curiosity quickly became a calling: to learn everything about soapstone cookware and the artisans who had been shaping it for generations.

Through extensive research, online forums, and global connections, we eventually reached artisans in Brazil whose families have crafted soapstone pots for decades. Together, we shared a vision: cookware that is healthy, timeless, affordable, and beautiful—pieces that sizzle in the kitchen, carry rustic warmth, and weave stories of culture, connection, and care.

More than a product, we envisioned a gift—one that creates a ripple effect of beauty, good health, and meaningful impact by supporting artisans and preserving their crafts.

Cooperative & Democratic Partnerships

We work closely with artisans and cooperatives across the globe, ensuring fair collaboration, mutual respect, and shared growth. Every piece reflects hours of skilled labor and generations of knowledge—crafted slowly, intentionally, and with pride.

Ethical & Sustainable Sourcing

Craftsmanship has a rich history spanning thousands of years. Our products honor that legacy by being made through sustainable practices that respect natural resources.

We avoid synthetic pesticides, harmful chemicals, and wasteful production methods. By offering durable, long-lasting alternatives to disposable cookware, we help reduce waste and encourage conscious consumption.

When you choose our products, you are investing in pieces designed to last a lifetime.

Rooted in

Our mission is to support artisan communities worldwide by showcasing their handmade, sustainable products through our online store. By creating access to global markets, we help artisans increase their incomes, strengthen their livelihoods, and invest in their families and futures with confidence and optimism.

Together, we are preserving heritage, honoring hands, and building a more thoughtful way of living—one handcrafted piece at a time.
